Located in the central region of Costa Rica, San Jose has a population of just over 300,000. It is known as the hub of life throughout the country. There are many businesses, restaurants, and shopping plazas. At night there are many exciting places to go and show off on the dance floor. The weather in San Jose is very mild, never does it get extremely hot, nor extremely cold. The wet season runs from May to November, however it doesn't rain throughout the whole day. There are many exciting physical activities to do in San Jose. It is famous for its excellent golf courses, gyms, pools, and of course, futbol. San Jose hosts many festivals throughout the year, among the most popular is, The Festival of Arts, which takes place in March and features: dance, theatre, music, and film. The courteous people of San Jose add to its inviting sophisticated culture.

Our Partner School is located in the capital, on the east side of San Jose. It is located in the quiet neighborhood of Guadalupe and close to many places of interest for the students.  Residing only about 6 blocks from the University of Costa Rica, and 8 blocks from the biggest and most  modern, commercial center of San José called “Mall San Pedro,”  this neighborhood has much to offer with a variety of restaurants, cinemas, banks, and many stores.

Around the University campus there are many  restaurants, bars, and places with live music, meaning  that there is something to do for everyone. Our Partner School’s building is equipped with modern audiovisual equipment, break room, cafeteria, library, and Internet laboratory.  In addition, it’s a convenient 10-minute bus ride to downtown San Jose and a short bus ride from the home stay families.
