On the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica lies Jacó Beach, keeping our great tradition of Spanish teaching while offering you all the attractions of a seaside city. It is known as the "City of Surf" in Costa Rica and offers some of the best surfing in the country. Jaco is just minutes away from other world class surfing spots like Playa Hermosa (5 minute drive from Jacó downtown), Playa Esterillos and Playa Escondida. Also, Playa Hermosa and Jacó are consistent year-round surf spots on the Pacific Coast. Therefore, Jacó Beach is one of the best places to learn how to surf, or if you already do, you'll have no trouble finding a good ride, being experienced or amateur.
Amidst the tranquillity of beautiful tropical gardens you will have the possibility of taking your first steps in Spanish, or of perfecting the language skills that you have already acquired. The school was established in 1986 and is one of the oldest language schools in Central America, teaching Spanish as a second language and Latin American Culture for over 2 decades. Costa Rican Spanish is considered to be among the best spoken Spanish in the world. The pronunciation is clear, accurate, slow and accentuated.
The school is an Associate Center of Instituto Cervantes and is fully accredited by Asociacion para la Difusión del Español, Spain. US College Credits are possible through official agreements of the school with Brookhaven Community College in Dallas, Texas. They are also recognized by some German States (Bundesländer) as Bildungsurlaub: Freie und Hansestadt Hamburg, Behörde für Schule und Berufsbildung.
The academic staff is highly qualified and experienced in teaching Spanish as a second language. They are trained to use technology assisted education and teaching in accordance with the Common European Framework (A1-C2) and in compliance with EN 14804, the European Language Study Travel Norm.
The school is a house with a 1000 sqm tropical garden, a terrace (also used for classes) and a swimming pool. There are 4 indoor classrooms, 3 bathrooms and a kitchen area. The school is located in a pleasant residential neighborhood, just 7 blocks from the beach (a 15 minute walk). Restaurants, hotels, grocery stores, drugstores, bicycle shops and many other services are all nearby.
